James E. Meason, Attorney at Law

Education and Military: Jim earned his Bachelor's of Science degree from Southern Illinois University, a Master of Art from Georgetown University, and a law degree from American University.  Jim served 27 years in Naval Intelligence, and held the rank of Commander. He served our country through missions around the world, and in 2012, Jim returned from a one year tour in Afghanistan to resume his law practice.

Private Practice: Jim opened his Rockton office in 1997 after working as a Federal regulatory enforcement attorney in Washington, D.C., and practicing environmental law with a major national Chicago-based law firm. Jim's general practice firm continues to handle environmental cases on both the state and federal levels. Additionally, Jim offers over two decades practicing family law, estate planning, business law, and more.

Family and Community Involvement: Jim lives, is raising his children, and owns his business in Rockton, so being actively involved in the community is very important. From coaching team sports (baseball, soccer, and swimming) to serving as President of the Rockton School District 140 Board of Education and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Council. 

A proud father of three kids, his oldest attending Marquette as part of the Navy ROTC program , a senior soon attending U of W Osk Kosh, and a freshman in high school.

Tess Whitaker, Paralegal, State Certified Mediator, BSLS

Education: Tess earned her Associates and Bachelors in Legal Studies graduating Suma Cum Lauda from Post University in August, 2015. She continued her education with Post in the Psychology field and obtained her Illinois Mediator Certification from Center for Conflict Resolution meeting the 40-hour training requirements. Additionally, Tess continues to take local courses on all aspects of Illinois laws as pertaining to the clients in our office.

Family and Community Involvement: Tess and her husband, Don, are raising five boys. Both actively involved with the Roscoe Rockton Lions organization, Hononegah High School boys Cross Country, Stateline Thunder Baseball, Bruce Samlan Soccer, among other organizations through volunteer coaching, official team parent, or sitting the sidelines and cheering on our youth.
